SWHAS Monthly Meeting April 2026
Andy Ritchie Green
Andy, a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, has been dedicated to astronomy and space for over 48 years since becoming interested at age 7. He has promoted astronomy worldwide through lectures—including at the University of Cambridge and Sheffield Hallam University—and visits to observatories in Hawaii, the USA, Europe, Australia, and Chile. Andy has toured facilities at NASA and the European Space Agency and contributed to astronomy at all levels, from local societies to professional circles. His main research focus is Auroras, with over 16 years spent studying and photographing them in Iceland. Holding a degree in Geo-Science/Planetary Geology from the University of Sheffield, Andy is also a freelance journalist and photographer published internationally, and contributed to the US Navy ROTC Space Flight manual. His photography has appeared in various publications, including the 2021 Philips Stargazing Guide.
The meeting will also include a news item of interest and a tour of the night sky.
We look forward to seeing you.
