This year’s open evening took place on a very sunny evening, with virtually no cloud (none as the evening progressed), allowing some excellent viewing of both sunspots and prominences. Viewed through an hydrogen alpha filter the prominences were outstanding – one very large one arcing from and back to the surface and a smaller one alongside. Several members said that the large one was one of the best they had ever seen.
The event was well attended by both members, family, friends and visitors from the Flaunden area.
Thanks are due to Jane and her helpers for providing another excellent buffet.
