The Society also owns its own observatory for use by members, and regular weekly observing sessions are held on Saturday nights

About Us

The Society was founded in 1968, with the aims of promoting the science of astronomy and encouraging popular interest in the subject.
We are currently about 100 members strong with a wide range of skills and ages.

JOIN US

We welcome new members and potential members to come to one of our monthly meetings as a visitor.
Each meeting usually begins with a talk by the main speaker followed by a tour of the night sky in the planetarium. Non-members pay £3 on the door.
